chasy cat

bindicoots watch out If you are a bindicoot, I do think you should watch for this. It sounds totally dangerous.
What I found as funny as the name of the product is that “Chasy Cat” has this lovely tear-off dispenser but the grocer has stocked it with the ‘Laxman Rekha’ cockroach repellent.
Which reminds me of the BEST ever sign for “krezy rat maar” painted on the Mahim causeway wall. The tagline, in Hindi, read “choohon ka encounter kar de“.

Yes, for one day only, ladies, gentlemen, there’s a tootalz sale on tootally everything.
And, gasp, it’s the name of the store.

*facepalm* What were they thinking???

But “diffencer”? Now that’s a new one. I’m beyond baffled. I’m … my brain is in a knot. I need to rest. Tootal rest.
Tootles, everyone 😉

P.s. Test your Mumbai GK: do you know where this is?

upside down in delhi

Where else but in saadi Dilli? This one is a pretty old – taken from Outer Ring Road, with a friend in the driver’s seat. We spotted this one night heading back after a film, soon after the #CWG and were awestruck. A whole, huge directional sign hung upside down, pointing the wrong way. Yes, that sign is above the other lane.
The next night we were heading back, we tried to capture it – shakily and blurrily and in motion, sorry!
Well, Mumbaikars could counter that at least Delhi has visible road signage! Here, every time I go to the airport, I  see a car (sometimes two!) attempting to back down the flyover, having totally missed the tiny sign on the left and then having spotted the Sahar hotel, thinking “Oh $#!%@”

for your … geometric needs?

This one is near Siddhi Vinayak temple. For your tots. Or not.
I believe that “titbits” is perfectly acceptable in the United States as a term for what we, east of the Atlantic refer to as “tidbits”. But then, I’m no angel. That’s just my 2 cents, I could be factoring too much in, adding 1+1 and getting 11 …

heartattackYou really can get anything your heart desires in India 🙂 And usually around the corner from where ever you are! Like this place – heart attacks and judging from the photos in the ads below, much, much more… And probably for a much better price than anywhere else.
Let’s see … vada pav, INR 7; samosa plate, INR 10; bhajia and pakodas, INR 10. Yeah, heart attacks available pretty damn cheap anywhere you look. How lucky we are 🙂

hommade undies

hommade undiesThis one’s from closer to home than the last post. Very, very close to home, actually – I found this at the local supermarket. If you’re still figuring it out, let me help you – it’s recycling at its best: cartons of men’s briefs (I can’t tell what brand it is, can you?) stocked with toor dal, moong dal, and ‘hommade’ garlic/ginger paste. Well, that’s not really what I expect to find in a packet of briefs, but hey, it’s all a means to an end …

ratel?

This nearly rivals the one shop banner I saw in Saki Naka that had Sale, Rital and Holsail on it and baffled me for a good 2 minutes after I’d passed it, by which time it was too traffic-y and too late to turn the auto rickshaw around for a photo. This gem is in Byculla, a little way from J.J. Flyover. I’ve pointed and shot at it many times but it always came out blurred. My favourite driver slowed down for me to get a legible shot 🙂

handmade rants

November 19, 2009   Comments (3)

This gem from the old market in Siem Reap, Cambodia. If only I could sell MY rants, too. I have so many – from Delhi’s lack of civic sense to my uncle’s Islamophobia, to the state of our educational systems in India, not to mention the state of radio in India…. 😉
Anyway, these are handmade LADY rants 😉 Mine aren’t very ladylike, I’ll admit. So for those, you’ll really have to travel to Cambodia.
